2. Frank Kessler came all the way from Germany to attend the 61st annual Kutztown Folk Festival. Kessler is the Chairperson of the German-Pennsylvanian Association. He’s trying to keep the Pennsylvania German dialect alive. Kessler was a guest this week on WEEU’s “Feedback” show.

3. In Sports, Charlie Manuel and Ryan Howard of the Phillies talk about the 2010 All-Star Game. Manuel explains why he selected Howard over Reds’ slugger Joey Votto.

The former Wilson and Penn State standout talks about two of his former head coaches, Gerry Slemmer and Joe Paterno. WEEU Week in Review for June 18, 2010

1. A recap of the week’s top news stories including the arrest of a Reading man in connection with a rape in Alsace Township, the Twin Valley School District passed a budget that raises taxes and eliminates teaching jobs, and State Senator Mike O’Pake said the new state budget will have “painful cuts.”

WEEU Week in Review for May 28, 2010

2. Some major Medicare changes go into effect on June 1st. Wyomissing insurance guru Chester Perfetto gave all the details to WEEU’s Jo Painter. Perfetto also talked about a new benefit related to prescription drug plans.

WEEU Week in Review for March 19, 2010

3. In Sports, Oley Valley boys basketball coach Charlie Truckermiller earned his 100TH victory earlier this season. The Lynx are headed back to the Berks County Playoffs. WEEU’s Paul Roberts went 1-on-1 with Coach Truckermiller.

WEEU Week in Review for Dec.11, 2009

2. This is the 22nd year for the “Holiday Lights” show at Gring’s Mill in Wyomissing.  Becky Richards, the Superintendent of Recreation with the Berks County Parks Department, tells us all about the spectacular display.  Richards was a guest on WEEU’s “Feedback” show this week.

3. In Sports, WEEU’s Paul Roberts goes toe-to-toe with local boxer Jason Cintron who has a record of 11-and-1.  Jason is the younger brother of former world welterweight champion Kermit Cintron.

WEEU Week in Review for Dec.4, 2009

1. A recap of the week’s top news stories including Reading’s police and firefighters unions rejecting a final contract concession, U.S. Congressman Jim Gerlach criticized President Obama’s plan to send 30,000 troops to Afghanistan, and Berks County’s jobless rate didn’t change from Sept.-Oct.  It’s the 2nd time in the last 14 months that unemployment didn’t increase from the previous month.

2. Nadirah Shakoor has toured or recorded with Madonna, Paula Abdul, and Al Jarreau.  The former female lead singer of Arrested Development joined Jimmy Buffet’s “Coral Reefer Band” in 1995.  Shakoor stopped by WEEU’s Jo Painter show to promote her performance in West Reading.
